This page is designed to give an overview on projects concerned with democracy and education. All projects have in common that the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF) is involved in one or the other way.
The project on the EDC Tool on Quality consists of a comparative feasibility study, leading to recommendations on the implementation of material on democratic school development in several countries. This project is coordinated by the DIPF.
“The development of active citizenship on the basis of informal learning at school” is a project by the European Union Socrates Programme, in course of which qualitative studies on school culture in seven countries are conducted. The project is conducted by the University of Twente, DIPF acts as German project partner.
„Learning and Living Democracy“ is a national school development programme in Germany. The DIPF is in charge of the external evaluation.
„Indicators on active citizenship for democracy“ is the title of a common project by the European Union and Council of Europe. The aim of the project is to come up with indicators as an informational basis for policy development on European citizenry. The DIPF is part of the international research network accompanying this project.
Finally the site is linked to the German Education Server, which offers English and German links on democracy, participation and education.
